Foundation Guidelines
Thank you for your request for funding from the Joshua Green Foundation. The principle focus of the Foundation is major capital campaigns of non-profit, 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt organizations headquartered and operating in the Seattle/King county area. These requests should not occur more than once every five years and no more than one percent (.01) of the private portion of the capital campaign will be funded. We do not fund national or international organizations. Minor capital needs such as computer and telephone equipment will not be supported.
The major areas of funding are private secondary and higher education, social services and the arts. The Foundation does not fund individual requests, endowments, scholarships, conferences, seminars, pilot, start-up or seed money projects, nor does it underwrite special event programs, concerts, videos, books or personnel positions.
To meet operating fund needs in the community, the Foundation contributes to the United Way and ArtsFund. Other operating requests are considered only in the event of unpredictable and one time cash flow declines. Family members of the Joshua Green Foundation also support significant involvement in community and non-profit organizations.
Given the current state of the economy, the Foundation will focus on emergency funding to address organizational operating shortfalls created during this difficult economic downturn. Once the economy sufficiently recovers, we will resume our normal giving guidelines.
The Joshua Green Foundation trustees meet quarterly around the 15th of the month following each calendar quarter. Eligible proposals must be received in our offices by the end of March, June, September and December. All organizations will be notified in writing if approved or declined within a week of the meeting.
If your request falls within the above guidelines, please complete the attached application and forward it to me either by email, fax or mail.
If your request does not fall within the above guidelines, our apologies for being unable to support your worthwhile project and we wish you success in your fundraising efforts.
Thank you.
